Dynamic Spread Readings As I explore different aspects of the Tarot to help my clients and the Tarot community, I have tried to select areas of study I feel are meaningful, creative, and unique to the field of Tarot. After reading Donald Michael Kraig's article titled "A New Tarot Paradigm" in the Spring 2001 issue of the Tarot Journal (www.tarotjournal.org), I knew I had to experiment with the concept of dynamic spreads. With dynamic spread readings, the spread's positions and their associated meanings are allowed to be just as synchronous and random as the Tarot cards themselves. I became fascinated with the idea that if our subconscious can be used to bring meaning to the randomness of a Tarot deck, why can't it also be used to bring extra meaning to the way we structure our approach to answering a seeker's question. So, over the past six months, I have been using a Dynamic Spread approach to reading the Tarot based on the works of Donald Michael Kraig and Joan Bunning. This approach consists of two decks. The first deck that I call a "Foundation Deck" determines which aspects of the question to answer and is based on the positions and meanings of the Celtic Cross Spread. I have selected the 40 variations of the Celtic Cross Spread as defined by Joan Bunning in her landmark book "Learning The Tarot" as the basis for my Foundation deck. The second deck (any standard Tarot deck) is used as normal to provide the seeker insights pertaining to their questions. Below shows a card from my Celtic Cross Foundation Deck. The combination of these two decks creates a dynamic spread designed to uniquely address questions within the framework of the traditional Celtic Cross Tarot spread. Below shows a sample reading using the Dynamic Spread Reading (DSR) technique. To date, the results of my readings using this approach have been profoundly insightful and rewarding. If you are a seeker, I encourage you to request a Dynamic Spread Reading today. I trust you will find it as helpful as so many others have over the past six months! Brightest of Blessing To You!
